The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in looking with new eyes.
- Marcel Proust
In long term relationships, we become so accustomed to our partner's familiar quirks and habits that we often take them for granted, or even overlook the qualities that drew us to them in the first place. However, when we are able to see our partners through a fresh lens, it can reignite the spark and deepen our love for them. This is just one of the reasons why I love watching my partners flirt with other people!
My husband and I are very open about the connections that we pursue outside of our marriage, and it is such a blessing to see those relationships develop and grow. By celebrating his other relationships, I am always reminded that he is MORE than a husband, MORE than a father, MORE than the things that I need him to be.
You don't have to be in a polyamorous relationship to honor your partner's autonomy. Whatever your relationship paradigm may be, seeing your partner in a new light is a great way to reignite passion and intimacy. What an exciting journey it can be to fall in love all over again!
